RE:COLLECTION

RE:COLLECTION

Weidi Zhang & Rodger Luo presented Re:Collection, an interactive art installation that allowed audience members to verbally share a memory, which was then converted to a prompt for a txt2img model.

The piece was unburdened by the slow generation speed of current models due to its clever design, and leveraged realtime gpu-based pointclouds to artfully render the output imagery.

Re:Collection demonstrated that the use of realtime image generation in interactive media had become a reality,

albeit in a bespoke installation setting...

When we coexist with machines, will we accumulate synthetic recollections of collective symbiotic imagination?

Is language capable of re-weaving and synthesizing memories?

How does our collective memory inspire new visual forms and alternative narratives?
